ProFuturo Project
A digital education initiative providing technological equipment, a learning platform, and training for teaching communities to improve teacher competencies and classroom learning environments.
ProFuturo is a digital education initiative implemented by Salesians Don Bosco Tanzania to strengthen the use of technology in teaching and learning. The project provides schools with digital learning equipment, educational content, teacher support and digital-learning platforms that enable teachers and students to integrate technology into everyday classroom activities.
The project began in March 2017 and has progressively expanded across several regions of Tanzania, including Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, Iringa, Ruvuma, Moshi, Dodoma and Zanzibar.
The project is currently undergoing an important digital transformation following major improvements to the ProFuturo platform. The previous Ebro V3 platform is being replaced by the new Moodle-based ProFuturo Offline Platform, designed to provide a simpler interface and improved learning experience for teachers and students. In April 2026, six coaches from Don Bosco and Save the Children participated in a six-day training to prepare them for the new platform and migration process.

Objectives

The project has transitioned toward the Moodle-based ProFuturo Offline Platform, with the migration process from Ebro V3 already underway.
Coaches have been trained to support the new platform and migration process.
The project is placing greater emphasis on teacher leaders, enabling schools to develop internal capacity and reduce dependence on external coaching.
The 2026 strategy emphasizes moving beyond simply installing or migrating technology toward actual classroom use and sustained adoption.
Overall, the current results indicate that the project is reaching a large proportion of its 2026 beneficiaries, with approximately 97% of the student target and 86% of the teacher target already represented in the latest reported activity figures.
